The Director, Compliance will be responsible for working with the Aaron’s Legal and Compliance Departments to maintain and improve the Company’s compliance management program and to assist the Company in maintaining legal compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to Aaron’s business across its 1,300+ corporate and franchise stores and the Store Support Center.  The position is within the Office of the General Counsel and works closely with stakeholders across the Company, including executive management.  The Compliance Team is based in Atlanta, Georgia.  Some travel is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·Maintain an understanding of the rent-to-own industry and the Company’s operations

·Work closely with the General Counsel, the Vice President of Compliance, and the Legal and Compliance Departments to ensure the growth, development, and effectiveness of the Company’s compliance management program

·Advise the Company on consumer protection and regulatory obligations, including TCPA, FCRA, UDAAP, ROSCA, Electronic Funds Transfer Act, and state rent-to-own laws

·Possess knowledge of non-bank financial products and services regulatory requirements, specifically those related to consumer protection regulations

·Operate in a cross-functional manner with most departments in the Company, including Legal, Learning & Development, Human Resources, Enterprise Risk, Internal Audit, and Operations

·Participate in the design, execution, and evaluation of compliance policies and procedures

·Assist the Chief Compliance Officer and Vice President of Compliance in developing, implementing, maintaining and updating corporate policies and procedures, including those that are components of the compliance management system

·Create and maintain a central repository of Company policies and procedures and coordinate review of those policies and procedures periodically or in response to changes in the statutory or regulatory environment or changes to business activities

·In coordination with the Legal Department, advise on new rent-to-own products and services or potential expansion into other financial products or services

·Review and revise the Company’s forms, disclosures, call scripts, and marketing materials to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations

·Develop, implement, and maintain the Company’s service provider/vendor management program

·Work with the Vice President of Compliance to track, escalate, and resolve compliance-related issues identified across the Company

·Investigate compliance claims under the Company’s Internal Investigations Policy, as assigned by the Vice President of Compliance

·Support the Legal Department in coordinating with federal or state examiners or investigators and timely responding to governmental investigators as directed by executive management

·Assist the Chief Compliance Officer and Vice President of Compliance in developing and maintaining a mature compliance risk assessment process, including by creating and maintaining an inventory of compliance risks

·Manage the company’s record retention program

·Monitor the company’s maintenance of entity and individual industry-specific licenses needed to carry out the company’s business activities

·Develop and maintain repository of compliance resources, including policies, procedures, correspondence, reference materials and training materials

·Assist in the creation of and participate in executive management and Board-level compliance reports

·Interface with the company’s executive management on compliance matters

Education and Experience:

·Six (6) years of related work experience compliance or audit field

·Law degree preferred

·Financial services or FinTech industry experience strongly preferred, or alternative exposure to complex consumer-facing regulated sector

·Multi-state experience a plus

Required Skills:

·Excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills

·Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

·Strong organizational and time management skills

·Proficient in  Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
